Ham and croissant casserole

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Théberge quarter old-fashioned smoked ham
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) 2% milk
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) 15% cooking cream
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 350 g bag of mini-croissants, cut in half
  • 1/3 lb (150 g) raclette cheese, sliced

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (180 °C).

  2. Remove skin from ham, then cut in small cubes.

  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs with milk, cream, maple syrup, mustard, thyme, garlic powder and green onions. Season with pepper.

  4. Butter a baking dish.

  5. Dip the croissant halves in the egg mixture and let soak for 30 to 45 seconds. Place in baking dish.

  6. Pour the remaining egg mixture in the dish. Top with ham and raclette cheese.

  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
